Dickon is the CEO & Founder of Themis, an award winning digital financial crime platform.  Themis helps clients manage their legal, regulatory and financial crime risk as well as the reputational and ethical risk of any unwanted associations with criminals, organised crime, fraudsters, corrupt officials or generally businesses who are employing poor practices or abuses of human rights.  By making it really easy to detect and report potential links to criminality, we are making it harder for criminals to profit from their illicit activity and the very real and significant harm they are causing to people, to businesses and to the environment.

As a serial founder, Dickon has been involved in multiple greenfield projects and new start ups and has therefore experienced first hand the many highs and lows of being a founder.  These are experiences that only fellow founders will truly understand, and that is one reason why Dickon is happy to support others on this journey.  Dickon is an impact founder, supporter and investor and also believes very strongly in helping businesses that solve significant societal challenges or have a strong social impact.

Prior to founding Themis, Dickon spent over 20 years in Banking, including as the COO and then CEO of First Abu Dhabi Bank in the UK (SMF 22 & 19). Dickon has worked and travelled extensively in the Middle East, as well as the UK, Europe & Americas.

Dickon is also the Finance Chair of the UK Modern Slavery Training Delivery Group (a national committee reporting jointly to the Home Office and Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, with close links to the National Crime Agency). He is also a member of Transparency International, holds an ICA International Diploma in Anti-Money Laundering and an MA (Hons) from the University of Edinburgh. LinkedIn.

A word from Dickon

Being a founder is a very lonely job.  It can be incredibly exciting but it can also be hugely stressful and all consuming.  When I set up my first business, I was surprised how many people, even close friends and family, would metaphorically cross the road to avoid talking about what I was doing.  However I will never forget those who came out and said simply "How can I help?".  Whether it was one introduction, a friendly ear or something more concrete, I will never forget those who helped me when I needed it most.

As a serial founder myself, I want to pass on the batton and support other founders where I can.

I support businesses with a clear social impact or that are solving a significant societal issue, and who are led by inspiring founders.  If this is you please get in touch.
